A.D.
This looks to be all kinds of cool…
Zombies are another one of my horror guilty pleasures. It’s really hard to go wrong with them at all. About five years ago I ran across a zombie outbreak simulator which consisted pretty much of colored dots in a 2d wire frame maze that was supposed to be a town. Not sure if this new one is the current iteration, a fork of the original version, or something new all together. Either way this is pretty damn shweet.
The graphics are a bit better with little 8 bit looking characters running around represent civilians, zombies, and police officers. The action is layered over a Google Maps satellite image. The developers have obviously layered an invisible 2d data map over this because there appears to be a clear distinction between forested areas, open space, and buildings including doors which the zombies eventually break through.
If you’re looking for something to blow 10 minutes of your time on that’s sickingly entertaining then definitely check this one out.
I’m one of those people who occasionally loves a good mashup especially when it’s two of my all time favorite holidays: Halloween and Christmas. Tim Burton set the bar on that concept back in the 90s with A Nightmare Before Christmas. I’ve seen the occasional piece from time to time but they all seem imitate Burton’s style.
This year has seen a rise in the Spooky Christmas mashups and rising to the top is Ghoul Friday’s pieces. Her latest piece is a nice little vine and holly wreath with a zombie head smack in the middle. Pure genius I say – eat your heart out Tim Burton!
